52 Weeks Of Donna's Life

Donna's Photo Challenge

43. Solitary

Waiting for Lunch

Waiting of Lunch

On our trip to the Okefenokee Swamp recently, we included a boat ride into the swamp to see the flora and fauna. Though we saw several alligators in the swamp and along the banks, this gator seemed to have his territory claimed. Though we spent time around him, he was unmoved. I think he was waiting for his lunch to swim, hop or walk by him.

An enthusiastic amateur photographer, I enjoy picturing the events, people, animals and things in my life. And so joining in the "52 Week Challenge" of interpreting life through a lens sounds as if it will be a lot of fun -- presenting my view through the lens and seeing how others in our photography group interpret their views concerning a given subject.

  1. He kept an eye on you though.

  2. I really like all the textures, his skin, the lily pods, grasses and the lighting is perfect.

    • Thank you — we were lucky enough to have been in the area during those “golden hours” for photographers — before 10:00am (or after 4:00pm as is sometimes the case).

  3. Those gators have lots of patience…until there meal ticket arrives then they are super fast. Nice capture.

  4. I like everything about this photo … mostly the courage you had getting this close to him.

  5. At least an 8 footer

  6. I love how the green leaves frame his face, Great shot!
